A Glamour exclusive feature

A story in Glamour‘s email magazine, “The Secret My Family Kept for 100 Years,” demonstrates the qualities a feature story must have. It was easily read in 10 minutes and uses narrative strategies. It was not a news story, but it has news attributes. It also has human interest that catches the eye of diverse audiences.

The first paragraph has a hook leading into the story without giving too many details. It starts by setting the scene. The same paragraph ends with a quote that keeps the reader guessing what the rest of the feature story is about.

The conclusion ends with a quote summarizing the entire story. It answers the questions brought up in the hook.
